New Article: Evidence-based EPM Recommendations

620214A new article (in press) by WAVE Lab member Dave Tomczak, along with Lauren Lanzo and Herman Aguinis, provides evidence-based recommendations for implementing electronic performance monitoring in organizations. Read the article, published in Business Horizons, here.

Dr. Tara Behrend Discusses Information Privacy with Inverse.com

 

Wave Lab Director Dr. Tara Behrend recently shared her expertise about information privacy in a feature article for Inverse.com. In the article, she discusses the psychological issues that are related to the surveillance and mass collection of private data. She also talks about the psychological effect of going through our lives while under surveillance.

New Research: Online Interviews

A meta-analysis by WAVE Lab members Nikki Blacksmith, Jon Willford, and Tara Behrend shows that video interviews are worse for candidates. Read the study, published in Personnel Assessment and Decisions, here.

Dr. Tara Behrend Named 2016 CASBS Fellow

Tara

WAVE Lab Director Dr. Tara Behrend has been named a 2016 Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. Dr. Behrend will be on sabbatical at CASBS for the 2016-2017 school year and will not be accepting undergraduate or graduate students.

 

Uses and Misuses of Mechanical Turk

Dr. Behrend recently discussed research conducted by WAVE Lab about the most effective ways to use crowdsourcing in behavioral research at the 2016 APS Annual Convention in Chicago. Her panel was part of a cross-cutting theme program titled “Advancing Psychological Science Through Technology.”

Congrats to Wil and Elena!

Congratulations to Wil Jimenez and Elena Auer, who have both been accepted to Ph.D. programs for Fall 2016! Both have been accepted into the Industrial-Organizational Psychology Program at Old Dominion University. We wish you both the best and are very happy that you won’t be too far away!

GW Student Shares Keys to Happy Internship Experience

Jennifer_Nichols_720px_widthJennifer Nichols, a senior psychology major at GW, recently won second-prize at GW Research Days for her study “Exploring Predictors of Internship Satisfaction.” For her work, she earned a Luther Rice Undergraduate Research Fellowship and was also invited to present at the Association for Psychological Science conference in Chicago.

Jennifer worked with GW faculty mentor Dr. Tara Behrend to survey of more than 200 GW students who had recently held at least one internship. Her findings resulted in a number of important insights that will help future students make the most of their future internship opportunities.
