WAVE Lab at APA

WAVE lab director Dr. Tara Behrend and member Ahleah Miles recently participated in the American Psychological Association’s 2023 annual convention in Washington, DC.

Ahleah co-chaired a session that explored the historical intersections between vocational/counseling psychology and I-O psychology, entrepreneurship as a vocation in the future of work, the use of vocational development in introductory psychology courses using the APA 'skillful student' framework, and areas of I-O practice which could benefit from a vocational psych framing including selection, training, and coaching.

Dr. Behrend gave a talk encouraging I-O psychologists to engage in research that addresses a variety of global issues though rigor, relevance, reach, and respect.
